I would love to see you guys blog about converting from your own libraries to jQuery. (At least in the latest ImageManager / FileManager.)

I'll be going through a similar excercise myself in the coming months, and I'd love to hear about your approach and challenges.

We mainly use EditPlus on Windows Vista. We have tried quite a few editors and ide:s over the years but we always come back to that editor.

There's a bit of a chicken and egg situation. Historically - many open-source projects have had little or no documentation and many that have documentation are written by techies for whom writing documentation is not their key skill.

That is changing - as Open Source has become less niche and more main-stream, gaining acceptance in the real world so documentation has improved. There is that legacy though to overcome.

We use SpiderMonkey in our project (Mozillas JavaScript engine). Excellent software. Documentation though is very poor - there's some basic API documentation but as to how to use it, you're left to trial and error and the forums.

Of course the other reason is people are just plain lazy!

I created a general discussion group. But I'm currently the only member so there might not be many replies. :)

Is there a place to discuss punyMCE? I checked out the project webpage but there isn't any mailing list.

I have some edits that I want to make (and have made) but I'm a bit stuck regarding how to do them.

Primarily I want to remove the style code from the blockquote tags

Thanks

Thanks man, you have been an essential part of the TinyMCE community by your bug testing, patches and ideas.

Yes, we really took the API to a whole other level with the 3.x release. It was time for a complete rewrite, but I'm not doing that again it was a major task to rewrite everything. :)

Nice job Spocke!

I've been a raging fan and user of TinyMCE for nearly the entire 7-year period. You and Afraithe have been two pioneers in this area (text editors) as well as the whole JavaScript-based plug-in model. You took the product an amazing leap forward with 3.0, and we are all beneficiaries of your efforts.

You guys find some really creative ways around all the various browser glicthes and differences, and you're always open the new ideas.

Your obviously well-informed views outlined in this blog entry are the result of a lot of hard work and dedication. My hat's off to you!

@Ian: I will look into that to see if we could try to make some detailed specification. I think the HTML 5 spec is getting to large it should be divided into smaller chunks. It's easier then to both adopt the changes for browser vendors and also easier for people like us to contribute.
